Hiking to glaciers in Patagonia 🏔 This hike is Hiking to glaciers in Patagonia 🏔 This hike is in Los Glaciares National Park, it's a 2-mile loop that goes from Lago del Desierto right up to this glacier (Gran Glacier Vespignani). It’s located about 90 minutes from El Chalten, the epicenter of Patagonia climbing and trekking. I recently watched @thealpinistfilm on Netflix… which made me realize how wimpy this hike was compared to Marc-André Leclerc free soloing the nearby mountain Torre Egger! Viewing Torre Egger and Fitz Roy in person was magical! ✨ Now imagining someone scaling the side of the 8,800ft mountain without rope, through ice, and between breaks of horrendous winter weather … UNBELIEVABLE! 🧗‍♀️ I highly recommend watching The Alpinist documentary, Marc-André was truly one-of-kind and is so inspiring! PERITO MORENO GLACIER, PATAGONIA That’s an 18, PERITO MORENO GLACIER, PATAGONIA That’s an 18,000 year old glacier that spans 97 square miles! Pretty dang cool! It gets that beautiful electric blue color from the ice being so dense, all the air has been squeezed out. 🧊 This is the only glacier in Patagonia that is growing as fast as its calving, so it’s not receding.
